Active Summer Energy With Oriental Yoga

Let us get ready for the Festive Season with the joys of 2023 just around the corner. The summer energy is active energy. In summer time we need to make sure we do not overdo it, breathing calmly through difficult moments, relaxing and having proper breaks and sleep. In Oriental Yoga (OY) the summer energy means a focus on heart and small intestine meridians working with the season of fire. OY practice is for balancing, building core strength, flexibility, confidence and meeting life’s challenges.

About the style:

Welcome to the home page of Ryū Seishin Budō. This translates to Dragon Spirit Martial Arts.

DSMA officially came into being in 2005 when Brett sucessfully completed his Sandan (3rd degree blackbelt) examination in karate and was awarded the title of Sensei. However, he has been instructing in martial arts since 1992, more than 30 years.

By training the body, mind and spirit, Brett is able to assist, guide and mentor his students to achieve their goals. Ultimately, to become better people who take responsibility for themselves, their family and their community.

DSMA teaches the curriculum of Anderson Bushi Kai. It is a karate based martial art whose ancestory can be traced back through Zen Do Kai and Go Ju Kai. DSMA also incorporates Brett’s knowedge and experience in Iaido (Japanese Swordsmanship, Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryū), Eskrima (Filipino martial arts, Doce Pares), martial philosophies, and the science of coaching and biomechanics making it more than just karate.

DSMA welcomes anyone who wants to learn regardless of gender, race, religion or orientation. It is also a safe place to learn where any form of discrimination or bullying is not tolerated.

KIDDIES KINDERBALLET
Ages: 4 years to 5 years * The year before prep*
Duration: 45 minutes
Fees: $18.50/class

The ‘Kiddies’ program is for children who are in their final year of kinder prior to going to school. Children are expected to be more acquainted with working in a group under the guidance of a teacher.
The program aims to present a ballet class in a way that will keep a small child’s interest by having fun and being imaginative.

The programs become a little more complex as the year progresses, to accommodate the children’s preparation for school readiness.
While all children have varied co-ordination abilities, we try and aim to teach all children to skip prior to them going to school.

MUMMY & ME

Ages: 15 months to 3.5 years

Duration: 30 minutes
Fees: $15.50/class

‘Mummy and Me’ is offered to younger children, aged between 15 months and 3.5 years. It gives Mum (or the primary care giver) an opportunity to join in and share their child’s experience.
The classes are not yet themed, however there is an emphasis on use of props and imagery, songs and dancing to music, musical response through movement, basic movement co-ordination of gross motor skills and a minor introduction to a couple of ballet steps.
The environment is relaxed and friendly, with no set costuming and no obligation for little ones to continuously participate. The children are encouraged to participate, working closely with their primary care giver, giving them a sense of security and confidence.
The hope is that the ‘Mummy and Me’ program will be a foundation for the Kinderballet program if they choose to continue.
Each session is half an hour in duration and you would normally attend once a week.

Class sizes are limited to 10-12 children per class.
Just like with Kinderballet, there are NO enrolment fees, and NO costumes (or uniforms) to make or buy.
If you have younger ones to look after (who are too young to participate), you are welcome to bring them along.
